FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : Hit Hard By 2020 ? Acclaimed Philly RnB Artist Who Spent 25 Years Innocent On Death Row Releases TEARS THIS YEAR — A Gift Of Hope To A Nation That Needs Healing

(Philadelphia, Nov 25) “This is musical medicine for your soul” the artist says when asked for comment about his compelling new release, TEARS THIS YEAR.

Though the last 3 years have included the applause of audiences, appreciative of both his music and his inspiring message, he will never forget the torture, the fear, the desolation he experienced in over 2 decades on death row.

And now he wants to share what got him through it.

Four important words.

“Never, ever give up.”

The words meant so much to him he had the phrase put on a t-shirt when he was finally freed.

And now you hear those powerful words in his newest song, his fourth release since he himself was released from the quarter century nightmare he found himself locked up in until the cell doors finally sprung open in 2017.

If you wrote it as a movie plot, they’d say it was too incredible to believe. But when you sit down with Jimmy Dennis, to talk about the two songs he released this year — the newest, Tears This Year, (out today, the anniversary of the day he was stolen from his family and sent to death row so many years ago) and the important “HATE THE SKIN I’M IN” — (a heartbreaking yet hopeful commentary on race and injustice that came out in the wake of the terrible injustices we all watched this year — a painful reminder that even on this side of the bars there are life and death injustices.)

Not only is Jimmy Dennis the first artist ever to spend half a lifetime locked away for something he didn’t do, but his release from Pennsylvania’s Death Row in 2017 set important precedents and is still shaking up the justice system and having impact on other cases nationwide.

Now, nearly a year to the day after Rolling Stone told his story and featured his very first song U SAID in a feature article and a short documentary, the compelling song released as a gift to the nation from a man who has survived what most of us can only imagine will have national impact.
