“MERCY” Makes An Impact — Golden State Film Festival Presents Hollywood Screening Of Important New Film Directed by UK Film Legend
Just announced : Mercy is an Official Selection of the Golden State Film Festival
In advance of its April 7th public release, the important new film will be screening in Hollywood at TLC Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Thursday March 2nd — 2023 at 2pm
‘Mercy is a dramatization of the life of a factory farmed pig. It is the story of Mercy’s tragic journey, as she leaves behind her own family and encounters those whose job it is to end her life. In her hidden world, those who Mercy encounters, on her journey from factory farm to slaughterhouse, are changed forever. Empathizing with all on Mercy’s journey, a warning siren sounds on our uncertain times, calling for universal change.’
It is a story that will make viewers see the world differently — and it is one they won’t soon forget.
“Mercy offers an eye-opening glimpse of the suffering that animals endure daily in the meat industry. This powerful film encourages viewers to think about who died for their dinner, by pulling the curtain back on a sadistic industry that would prefer consumer remain in the dark. Pigs like Mercy are someone not something and in all the ways that truly matter, they are no different from us.” said PETA in response to the film.
Accompanying the documentary to the Golden State Film Festival is actress Wendy Morgan in her Directorial debut. No stranger to the silver screen, Morgan is best known to most film fans from her decades long history acting in some of the most famous productions in British film and television. Mercy is a true passion project for Morgan — but it’s just one of two films she’s associated with that is in selection at the Golden State Film Festival this year.
The second film is a feature — The Reverend & Mrs Simpson — “a powerful period drama, primarily set a few years after the events of World War II. Its core theme is prejudice and xenophobia, set against the backdrop of post-war Britain. At its heart is a forbidden love story between The Reverend Charles Wilson and Anna Simpson, interweaved with a forty-year-old secret that is about to be unearthed. The legendary actress had this to say on her arrival in the city last week :
“I am so excited to be back in LA!!! How sweet of Los Angeles to make me feel so at home with its unusually gray skies. I do hope that everyone hasn’t suffered too much with all the rain. The sunshine is out for me though, for I’m in x2 feature films at Grauman’s Chinese Theater — on the same day!! What an honor and a thrill it will be for me on Thursday — to visit that iconic cinema, in such a way. I look forward to seeing my Hollywood friends and meeting some new ones.
