After a hugely successful first season that drew the attention of dreadlock professionals, fans, and those curious about the philosophy, the Toronto based hosts of LOC TALK are at it again.

Celebrity stylists Karen Wallington and Brian J Phillips find time to host the popular podcast as well as running three other businesses between them : Modlocks (Karen), World Salon (Brian,) and Noggin Oil (both!)

Whether you call them locs, dreds, dreadlocks, jatas, Rasta, Dada or Congo, the two say, LOC TALK is dedicated to elevating and educating every aspect of the loc world. For each guest there is a remarkable connection to the hairstyle whether it’s spiritual, practical, political or fashionable, locs are often referred to as a movement or a journey for the simple reason that locs grow and evolve over the course of months, years and even decades. Our hosts Karen and Brian welcome industry experts and loc enthusiasts alike to speak openly about locs — a topic that is otherwise filled with misconception and misinformation. Our mission is to create a connection between the audience and our guests through dialogue about personal experiences, current events and philosophy as it relates to locs and the lifestyle thereby creating awareness and vanquishing stigmas associated with locs. There is one rule, they say : No topic is off the table — “as long as it comes from a place of love and curiosity, never judgement.”

The hosts are well known for keeping it real, allowing their guests to be “their most authentic selves”. Loc Talk is about showcasing diversity and inclusion with inspiring people from all over the world including Dubai based dredloc educator and social media influencer Kris McDred, Los Angeles celebrity hairstylist and platform educator for Matrix L’Óreal Professional Philip Wolff and Canadian HipHop/RnB recording artist Kofi.
