Rosa Parks Cousin Inspires Kids With Award Winning New Book About Rosa’s Activist Legacy

Rosa Parks is often described as a civil rights icon, as a legend of American History.

Professor, author, and award winning film-maker as well as cousin by marriage to Rosa Parks, has spent the last four years teaching all of us that there was so much more to Rosa Parks than the icon we think we know, frozen in time on a bus in Birmingham.

In her multi award winning film, My Life With Rosie, she enlightens viewers with details of Rosie’s activist life in the three decades of public service she lived in activism and community work after the years for which she was most famous .

Now, in an effort to “ teach children about the past to help them learn about racism, human rights and activism,” Dr. Sadler-Williamson releases a new book that should be in every public library and in every child’s room — MY LIFE WITH ROSIE — A BOND BETWEEN COUSINS.

“Rosa Parks spent her entire life inspiring future activists and today, children can learn how,” the author says. “Many people think Rosa Parks stopped fighting for human rights after her heroic bus stand on December 1, 1955. This book helps us learn that Rosa Parks spent over 4 decades fighting for human rights while instilling her passion for activism to thousands of youth worldwide.”

This book shows children how to do this by sharing the story of Rosa Parks and her dedication to teaching youth how to properly advocate for human rights."
