(Los Angeles, Nov 24) The same year that Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California in 1955, a black seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama initiated the civil rights movement in the United States when she refused to give up her seat to a white man on a public bus.

- It has been 65 years since the world first heard of Rosa Parks. Far from being forgotten in her beloved city of Detroit, the woman whose name is synonymous with human rights seems to be making her presence felt everywhere. Maybe it’s
because in these troubling times, her determined spirit is needed more than ever.

To commemorate this special part in our history, KLCS PBS will be airing the award-winning documentary, “MY LIFE WITH ROSIE” on December 1, 2020 at 4pm with an encore screening on December 5, 2020 at 7pm. The award-winning documentary features Rosa Parks’ life of activism in the years after Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Through those who knew her well, the film gives audience members a glimpse behind the stoic icon who was indeed a rebel against discrimination not only in the South in the 1960s, but also in the North, decades later.

KLCS PBS will also be airing two special episodes of “EVERYBODY WITH ANGELA
WILLIAMSON” along with the documentary. “EVERYBODY WITH ANGELA WILLIAMSON” is a new interview show on KLCS PBS that emphasizes diversity within education, the arts, and people. It premiered on September 2, 2020. The first special episode will follow the screening on December 1 st and December 5 th and it was filmed at the Rosa Parks Memorial Building in San Bernardino. This building is home to a statue of Rosa Parks and Assembly member Eloise Gomez Reyes from the 47 th District joins Dr. Angela Sadler Williamson to discuss why Rosa Parks’ legacy is important in 2020.

On Wednesday, December 2nd at 10:30 p.m., Minister Mervin Mayo, Billboard’s Hot 100 Gospel Artist and Richmond, Virginia Law Enforcement Officer joins Dr. Williamson to discuss how music helps press the social agenda in the fight for
injustice.

Dr. Williamson, the host of “EVERYBODY WITH ANGELA WILLIAMSON,” is extremely honored to be working with KLCS PBS during this important week. Dr. Williamson, who wrote, directed, and produced the documentary, said: “MY LIFE WITH ROSIE” gives hope to all of us right now because we get to learn about the “human” side of Rosa Parks. Dr. Williamson, (who is related to Parks), is a former Producer/Writer at FOX 11 Television in Los Angeles, CA and teaches at Rio Hondo Community College and Concordia University Irvine. On June 18, 2020, she released her #1 Best-Selling children’s book, “MY LIFE WITH ROSIE: A BOND BETWEEN COUSINS” on Amazon. She is a member of the Writers Guild of America West. Dr. Angela Sadler Williamson is available to the media for commentary.
